A Love Unsung

Church bells chimed above
A symbol of our love
Eternal and forever young
But yet, a love left unsung
We danced till our legs gave out
It was, without a doubt
The best night of my life
The night I became your wife
But now the feelings are gone
I watch you waste away
Drinking till the break of dawn
Your eyes hollow
Breaths shallow
The bottle rolls out of
your limp hands
Love is dead, may this be a sign
I go upstairs
I open the closet
To pick what to wear
I search for something
that was never really there:
The dress I wore when we were wed.
Darling, tell me,
It’s been so long.
When was our wedding?
Did it ever happen after all?
