A Toast To The End

Sirens blaze and people cry.

“To the scared, and to the sad,”

Screaming souls and catching fire.

“To the living, and to the dead,”

Mangled rats and torn attire.

“To the destroyed, and to the tattered,”

Angry chants and broken sobs.

“To the mad, and to the despaired,”

Fearful whimpers and sinful desires.

“To the terrified, and to the evil,”

Cancerous lies and untold truths.

“To the sick, and to the secretive,”

Unloved saints and loved monsters.

“To the hated, and to the worshiped,”

Families huddled together for warmth.

“To last embraces,”

Lovers sharing their love for the final time.

“To last kisses,”

Friends laughing amongst each other for the last time.

“To the joyous,”

Siblings holding hands, crying and reminiscing.

“To the shattered.”

“To the all and the many,

We say one final goodbye.

Our land is giving it’s last breaths.

It is leaving now

And we must follow.

Our footprints, our buildings, our creations,

They will continue to live,

They will live amongst the soil,

Amongst the dirt,

The weeds.

Our bodies will become one with our

Land, our flesh will rot, it will break,

And decompose,

We will vanish into the soil.

To be one with our land.

So to the all, and to the many,

Join hands, and do not cry.

The end is here, and here,

Here we shall lie until the end of

time.”
